    RED MASS AND DINNER
The Diocesan Red Mass & Dinner will take place on Monday, October 5, 2026, at SMG. Although the Red Mass has been celebrated annually in our Diocese, this will be the first year SMG has the honor of hosting—and it marks the 10th Annual Red Mass & Dinner. MORE DETAILS TO FOLLOW. The tradition of the Red Mass was begun by Pope Innocent IV in 1243 for the Ecclesial Judicial Court asking the invocation of the Holy Spirit as a source of wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude and strength for the coming term of the court. The color red signifies the Holy Spirit and martyrdom. St. Thomas More is the patron saint of lawyers.
