St. Katharine Drexel Reflection on Peace
(Feast day: March 3)
“Peacefully do at each moment what at that moment ought to be done. If we do what each moment requires, we will eventually complete God’s plan, whatever it is. We can trust God to take care of the master plan when we take care of the details.”-St. Katharine Drexel
Reflection:
Sometimes, it can be overwhelming to look at a big task. We immediately jump into panic mode thinking about all of the things that need to get done. Because we are overwhelmed, we freeze and lock up. We don’t know where to start. Then comes a moment of clarity. We have to remind ourselves that it is impossible to get the task done immediately. We must break it down into sections or pieces. In this way, the large task becomes more manageable.
St. Katharine Drexel’s quote is very wise. She first mentions that we must be peaceful in our approach. There is no stress or anxiety when we bring peace to our minds. While we might have much to accomplish, we only have the present moment. By being active and living in the present moment, we will accomplish the task set before us little by little. God will guide us. Invite the Holy Spirit to be present among you.
Prayer:
Come Holy Spirit. Teach us how to pray.
Holy Trinity, God, Three in One, I know that you have big plans for me. Your plan is good. Your plan is holy. At times, I feel overwhelmed with all of the tasks set before me. But I know that I am not alone. You go before me. Help me to bring a spirit of peace within me as I accomplish my tasks. May the Holy Spirit be ever present among me. Draw me deeper in union with You. I love You. Amen.
